Lufthansa: Accra is developing fast as a regional aviation hub

Lufthansa passengers can now book flights with the new wide body Airbus aircraft to Frankfurt. Tickets for flights on the Accra – Frankfurt route with the A330-300 are now on sale, said airline officials.

The new wide-body aircraft will depart from Accra to Frankfurt at 20:50 hours, from March 30th, 2014, operating under flight number LH 567, officials said. With the scheduled arrival time being 05:20 in Frankfurt, the next day.

“We are very excited to offer our customers a wide-body, state-of-the-art Airbus, say Kevin Markette, country manager in Ghana of Lufthansa German Airlines.

Markette stated “Accra is developing fast as a regional aviation hub and furthermore, we support economic activities with the much increased cargo capacity”.

From March 30th, 2014, Lufthansa will operate on the Accra-Frankfurt route 4 times a week: on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

An additional flight will come from June 19th, making it 5 flights per week.

The A330-300 is configured with 8 seats in First Class, 48 in Business Class and 165 in Economy Class. “The capacity of the wide-body aircraft brings in an additional 349 seats per week which is an increase of 46% – a great boost for doing business in Ghana”, said Lufthansa country manager Kevin Markette.

“I am also very pleased that travelling to and from Ghana can now be enjoyed in the much acclaimed and awarded First Class”, says Markette. Lufthansa’s First Class achieved a 5-Star rating from Skytrax this year.

As the largest network in Europe, as well as having extensive routes to North America and Asia, Lufthansa servers over 250 destinations in 103 countries.
