Africa has some of the fastest growing economies in the developing world. With the increase in development comes an increase in literacy and political awareness. There is little doubt that, today we live in the age of information, consequently grasping the ways in which that information can be effectively harnessed becomes most important. Africa’s internet connectivity has been on the rise and social media in the continent has become a force to be reckoned with. StateCraft Inc. has proven itself to be the foremost political consultancy in Africa by managing its third successful political campaign and now it is poised to extend its reach to the multitude of untapped areas.
StateCraft Inc. is headquartered in Lagos, the largest city in Nigeria, however the firm is anything but parochial with an extensive clientele that spans the whole of the African continent. StateCraft’s award-winning team has proved its mettle time and again with successful campaigns in its home country and abroad. The firm managed the election of President Muhammadu Buhari by effectively tackling the damaging pre-conceived ideas held about him. It scoured the political landscape to determine the current political tendencies within the electorate. President Buhari’s bid, on paper, seemed to be headed towards defeat but through the precise tailoring of his political campaign it was able to achieve an astonishing victory.
The ascendancy of Nana Akufo-Addo to the highest office of the Republic of Ghana, is the latest feather in the cap of StateCraft Inc. Mr. Akufo-Addo had previously entered the presidential race two times prior to the 2016 presidential election but had been unsuccessful in landing the presidency. The third time proved to be the charm by hiring the services of Statecraft Inc. to direct the communications strategy of the ambitious presidential bid. The firm was fresh off the heels of another successful campaign in Africa, that of the incumbent Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, and it took to evolving the communication and executive strategy of President-elect Akufo-Addo’s campaign with confident deftness. StateCraft was tasked with effectively managing the perception of the campaign by targeting key demographics through the media with emphasis on social and print media.
President-elect Akufo-Addo’s decision to seek the presidential nomination for the 2016 election began in March, 2014. He had won the nomination in October, 2014 and by the end of November, 2014 he had received endorsement from All People Congress in Ghana. When StateCraft was hired to design the campaign strategy it was decided to seek mandate on grounds of repairing the economy and reducing unemployment. The resultant strategy highlighted the candidates standing in the eyes of the electorate by a smart social media campaign. Ghana’s significant youth was a focal point of the presidential campaign and the strategy was rewarded by the overwhelming support that president-elect Akufo-Addo drew from this demographic. Mr. Akufo-Addo was up against his arch rival John Mahama whom he faced in his last bid for the presidency that lead to a closely contested election. However, this time around he was able to muster a greater public support for which he officially commended StateCraft Inc.
